Twelve questions to ask before you hire a home nursing agency in Ghana

Anyone can promise care. These questions reveal whether there is a clinical organisation behind the promise.

On the nurse

Is the nurse licensed and registered, and can I see proof? What vetting and background checks did they pass? How long have they worked with you? Will the same nurse attend, and who covers when they are ill or on leave?

On supervision

Who supervises the nurse clinically, and how often do they review the case? What happens at 2am if something goes wrong? How do you escalate to a doctor or hospital?

On the record

What exactly is documented at each visit, and how quickly does it reach me? Are visits timestamped? Can I see it from abroad, and who else can see it?

On money

What does the monthly fee include and exclude, and can siblings in different countries split it? What notice is needed to change or stop care?
