Questions
The things families ask us first
Straight answers on nurses, records, cost and how care starts. If yours isn't here, call us and ask.
- Who are the nurses, and how are they vetted?
- Every nurse is licensed to practise in Ghana, identity and background checked, interviewed clinically, and employed directly by TrueNurse Care. They are not freelancers we pass your family's details to. Each case has a senior nurse supervising behind them.
- How do I know a visit actually happened?
- Arrival and departure are timestamped in our portal, and the nurse completes the clinical record before leaving: vital signs, medication given, meals, mood, observations and photographs. You see that record on your phone the same day, wherever you live.
- We live abroad. Can several of us see the record?
- Yes. Access can be shared with several family members at once, in different countries, so brothers and sisters in the UK, US, Canada or Europe all see the same record without anyone having to relay it.
- How is care priced, and can siblings share the cost?
- Care is arranged as ongoing monthly support rather than one-off hourly visits, and the price depends on the clinical needs and the number of visits agreed in the care plan. One parent's monthly cost can be split between siblings. We quote after the assessment, in writing, with no hidden extras.
- How quickly can care start?
- For most families we complete the first conversation and the home assessment within a few days, and care usually begins within a week. Hospital discharges are treated as urgent and we work to the discharge date.
- Which areas do you cover?
- We are based in Kumasi and provide care there and in the surrounding areas, with coverage expanding across Ghana. If you are unsure whether we reach your family's home, call us and we will tell you honestly.
- Will it be the same nurse each time?
- Wherever possible, yes. Continuity matters, especially in dementia and rehabilitation care, so we match one nurse to the household and keep them there. When they are on leave, a briefed colleague covers and the record continues without a gap.
- What happens if something goes wrong clinically?
- The nurse escalates immediately to the supervising clinical lead and to you, and where a doctor or surgeon is involved in the case we contact them too. The record gives whoever treats your relative next a full vital-signs and medication history.
- Can a hospital, surgeon, clinic or midwife refer a patient?
- Yes. We work as the continuation of clinical care after discharge, follow the plan you set, and can give the referring clinician visibility of their patient's record. Write to referrals@truenursecare.com.
- Is the information in the portal private?
- Yes. Records are accessible only to the family members you authorise and to the clinical staff on the case. Photographs are taken with the patient's dignity and consent in mind, and we do not use them elsewhere without written permission.
